The United Way of Washington County is proud to announce that volunteer past presidents of the Kettle Moraine YMCA are joining forces to serve as United Way of Washington County’s 2022 campaign co-chairs.
The YMCA Legacy Team Co-Chairs include:

This team recognizes the importance of a strong local nonprofit network to achieve a healthier community, especially during these continued challenging times.
“We believe we can accomplish more by coming together,” explains Kirk Emerich, CFO of Westbury Bank. “Partnering with the United Way of Washington County allows us to serve a variety of nonprofits for greater community impact.”
Mental health, substance abuse, homelessness and families not having access to nutritious foods are examples of issues that are on the rise.
“Being a past president of the Kettle Moraine YMCA, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of United Way funding," said Carey Cameron, MD, family physician at West Bend Medical. "It provides support to a family of nonprofit partner agencies to ensure that we are collectively tackling our most pressing needs. It is a vital nonprofit I encourage others to support.”
The legacy team is looking to build on United Way’s positive momentum to help even more individuals and families in Washington County. They plan to continue to increase awareness of the importance of community programs and encourage new and past donors to contribute to the campaign.
The pandemic impacted many organizations including the United Way. With shutdowns, lack of events and hybrid workplaces, many donors were not able to give over the past two years. United Way is focused on rebuilding its donor base.
Last year, United Way of Washington County raised $1.8M and mobilized 20 community partners to help more than 11,000 individuals and families in need. Part of the campaign focused on raising and investing over $100,000 to provide new mental health counseling services to youth in Washington County.
“We are excited to have this collaborative team step forward this year, said Kristin Brandner, CEO of United Way of Washington County. “They are strong advocates for nonprofits and have already rolled up their sleeves to build a successful game plan. A major focus is to continue to build an army of volunteers to help by advocating and encouraging others to join our team. The ultimate goal is to ensure funding to our nonprofit community today and into the future.”
The 2022 United Way campaign begins this fall. Community volunteers help raise and then distribute the funds to support local programs that measurably improve residents’ education, financial stability and health.
